It is the sight of someone (or maybe it is something) receiving what we could only describe as a slap (we thought hard on an alternative name, but it is 'slap' that only comes to mind) from a Man of God of distinguished repute and stature becaause she is allegedly possessed of a devil - a foul devil to be precise!
It is also the sight of the devotion of someone to her shepherd, who believes in the infallibility of the representative of her object of belief. A desperate person in need of desperate assistance desperately!
Come to think of it, i have been flogged in church before o.
In one of the CACs I attended as a young one, I was flogged o, like with a real 'pankere' up to like 9 strokes, or was it 11? Admittedly, the circumstances were different. Was staying with the Pastor then, we (Pastor's sons and friends) left home for 'choir practice' (well in time not to be late at all) but did not arrive at practice until well over start time, I mean mega-late, like an hour or two. Pastor was waiting for us there. Each one of us was just signing in to receive our 'portions' as we were arriving, including Pastors 3 sons, we his friends, the girlfriends (well, not sure Pastor knew about that, but we all came in late together), e.t.c.
Now, THAT, I can understand, though I still think about it from time to time....Did he have the right to do that? Well, I think he did and still does! At least, it worked - never late for practice again till I left that church! And he was like a dad to me then, so, I think that was a right one!
